Lesson of the day… When it’s 70 degrees out in mid-November in Chicago, it doesn’t matter how much you have or how good your marketing is; people don’t go out to an indoor market.
After articles in the Norrhwest Herald, the Woodstock Independent, and online promotion on the market website, social media, and via our newsletters we had a great successful first day. Last week we had hundreds of people come out to the Woodstock Farmers Market’s Winter Market. It was 45 degrees outside and folks looked forward to an indoor shopping experience of buying fresh produce and local products from their farmers.
Today, people in Chicago cleaned gutters, hung Christmas lights, took kids to the zoo, went to that final soccer tournament, and cleaned iut their cars. No one wanted to be inside. I can’t say that I don’t understand. It was gorgeous outside!
So, today we saw that when weather competes against marketing, Mother Nature always wins.
